Instructions
Note: Felting needles are extremely sharp; use caution at all
times. The higher the needle number, the finer the needle and
the smaller the hole left in project. Follow manufacturer's
instructions throughout.

1. Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin. Cut one 3"
foam egg in half lengthwise for feet; cut sides are soles. Cut
4" egg into lengthwise thirds; use two outside pieces for
arms. Rub all cut edges with soft cloth to remove stray bits
of foam; wipe work surface.

2. Flatten foam balls against work surface for hands.
Remaining 3" egg will become bear's head; 5" egg will become
body. Place foam pieces on work surface in appropriate order.

3. For head, cover narrow half of egg with tan roving;
needlefelt fiber to foam. Cover remaining half of egg with
pink roving; needlefelt fiber in place.

4. Refer to photo and use fingers to gently make indentations
for bear's eyes. Apply a dot of glue to each indentation and
push eye beads into face. Pull very thin strands of brown
roving and needlefelt around each eye to create shading.

5. Place small amount of brown roving in nose area and
needlefelt into a small oval. Pull very thin strands of brown
roving and needlefelt to face for mouth.

6. For ears, trace and cut out pattern. Place a layer of tan
roving on scrap foam. Place a second layer on top in the
opposite direction. Gently needlefelt layers together to
create fabric. Cut two ears from felted fabric. Refer to photo
to needlefelt straight edge of each ear to pink part of head,
aligning ears behind eyes.

7.For body, cover largest egg with pink roving; needlefelt
fiber to foam. Add additional wool as needed for full, fluffy
look. Cover rounded side of each arm with pink roving, pulling
wool 1/2" over to flat side. Needlefelt fiber to foam.

8. Cover each hand/paw with tan roving; needlefelt fiber to
foam. Cover each foot with brown roving; needlefelt in place.

9. Insert one toothpick halfway into bottom of head and apply
small amount of glue around base of toothpick. Apply glue to
opposite end of toothpick and push head down into body.

10. Repeat Step 9 to join feet to bottom of body, arms to
sides of body, and paws to ends of arms.

11. Pull three 2"-wide strips of natural roving. Wrap one
strip around head in front of ears; needlefelt slightly along
edges and at back of head. Trim excess. Needlefelt edges of
another strip down center front of body; trim excess. Repeat for arm
and leg cuffs; needlefelt pant cuffs to body near back of foot.

12. Cut 1" fringe into both ends of fabric piece for scarf and
tie around neck. Glue buttons, evenly spaced, down front of body.
