W każdej okolicy rosną drzewa i krzewy owocowe, które nie należą do nikogo. Ich owoce czasami są zbierane przez przypadkowe osoby, a czasami przez osoby, które o takich miejscach wiedzą. „Darmowe owoce” to aplikacja, która ma pomóc w dzieleniu się informacjami o miejscach, w których rosną niczyje drzewa i krzewy owocowe. Celem funkcjonowania aplikacji jest zbudowanie społeczności aktywnych i ekologicznych osób, które wspólnie będą tworzyć zasoby aplikacji, a w przyszłości aplikacja ma umożliwiać wymianę pomysłów na przetwarzanie zbieranych owoców.

Inspiracją do opracowania aplikacji był projekt pod nazwą „Falling Fruit” (https://fallingfruit.org), w którym zbierane są informacje o owocowych miejscach na całym świecie.
Chcemy ten pomysł rozwijać w Polsce. W odróżnieniu do „Falling Fruit” nasza aplikacja jest darmowa i taka pozostanie (a być może w przyszłości jej rozwój i nowe funkcje pomogą sfinansować chojni sponsorzy?)In each area to grow trees and shrubs that do not belong to anyone.
