أنشئت الهيئة العامة للاستثمار في العام 1992م، وهي هيئة وطنية لترويج و تسهيل الاستثمارات في اليمن. قامت الهيئة منذ إنشائها بمساعدة الكثير من المستثمرين و تسجيل أكثر من 7000 مشروع وتسهيل استثمارات محلية وأجنبية تساوي أكثر من 10 مليار دولار. وقد خلقت الهيئة بهذا العمل مايقارب مائتي ألف فرصة عمل في أغلب القطاعات الاقتصادية.
