OVERVIEW

Video Selfie Start/Stop was designed to be the first app that makes video recordings without a cameraman. Powering up an Android device's charger will start a recording. Powering down the charger will stop the recording. A switched receptacle strip or a “Christmas tree extension cord with foot switch” may be used to activate the charger. A 'Tripod Adapter' may be used to hold the tablet or phone into place. Depressing the STOP then the SAVE button will save a time stamped copy of the recording. Options are provided for LOW, 352, 480P, and 720P video quality.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Powering up a device's charger will START a recording. Powering down the charger will STOP a recording. A switched receptacle strip or a ‘Christmas tree extension cord with foot switch’ may be used to activate the charger. Lighted switches will show the state of the device's charger. A 'Tripod Adapter' may be used to hold the device in place. A working recording will be saved to the internal memory of your device within its picture GALLERY. The alarm sounds from the app be be sent to a bluetooth speaker or soundbar for louder operation.

Depressing the STOP and then the SAVE button will save a time stamped copy of the video recording in the picture Gallery of your device.

Options are provided for LOW, 352 (an old NTSC format), 480P, and 720P video qualities. The front (screen side) camera on most Android devices is limited to 720P of resolution. Kindle devices are limited to LOW and 480P resolutions. The higher the quality of the video the larger will be the size of the saved file. The video files may uploaded to U tube. U tube offers an editor that can remove segments of the video. The video files may be Emailed. Email servers limit files to 20MB. Large files may be uploaded through the charging USB cable to your PC. In order to constrain the file sizes, recordings are restricted to a maximum of 30 minutes. If the recording fails try reducing the QUALITY.

This app requires the use of your device's Microphone, Camera, and Internal Storage. A front (screen side) camera is required. The app will ask for permission to access these devices upon installation. If the message appears.

'Settings, Apps, Selfie, Permissions'

Manually set the Camera, Microphone, and Storage to ON. You may also set these devices to OFF if you are not going to use the app for a while.

Allow a few seconds between pressing buttons and the remote start /stop. If your device has just been booted up, allow time for updates and email messages to download before operation. These updates can interfere with operation of this app. A card may be taped behind the microphone slot on your device to improve the quality of the picked up sound. Android Lollipop or higher is required.
