About Radio FM 90s

During Ramadan, one should reflect, pray, and deliver oneself from sin. While the emphasis of Ramadan is on fasting during daylight hours, it is also about strengthening one’s relationship with Allah (SWT) through worshipping His greatness and praying to Him. Ramadan in its entirety is an especially prominent time in Islam, although, there is one evening that is particularly meaningful, and that evening is Laylat-al-Qadr.

What is Laylat-al-Qadr?

Laylat-al-Qadr is otherwise known as the Night of Power and is considered to be the Islamic calendar’s Holiest eve. During this night, Angel Jibril revealed the Holy Qur'an’s first verses to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This night falls within Ramadan’s final 10 days, and although the exact date is unidentified, it is commonly thought of as the Holy month’s 27th day.

This is a night of great commemoration and devotion to Allah (SWT) and places higher than that of 1,000 months.

"We have indeed revealed this in the 'Night of Power'. And what will explain to you what the night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down The Angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand. "Peace!...This until the rise of Morn!"

Laylat al-Qadr Rewards

When you complete good deeds on Laylat al-Qadr, your fasting is increased in reward. On this night, a single act of kindness gives the blessings of 1,000 months. Carrying out these deeds on the Holiest night and dedicating your day to worship will extend your taqwa. Be sure to recite the Holy Qur’an and engage with its teachings by assisting those most in need, thus fulfilling one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Performing a charitable deed on Laylat-al-Qadr promises many future rewards.

"We have indeed revealed this in the 'Night of Power'. And what will explain to you what the night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down The Angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand. "Peace!...This until the rise of Morn!" - Surah Al-Qadr

When is Laylat-al-Qadr 2022?

The Night of Power occurs in Ramadan’s 10 final days. It was advised by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to "Look for it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan." (Bukhari). However, it is typically thought to take place on the 27th night. Based on this, the Night of Power 2022 is expected to fall on Wednesday 27 April, although this is subject to the official sighting of the moon.
How Long is The Night of Power?

The Night of Power is no longer or shorter than any other night; however, during Ramadan, many Muslims prefer to sacrifice sleep on this Holy day in order to worship and pray to Allah (SWT). It is believed that giving up sleep for Allah (SWT) to pray and undertake good deeds will result in all prior sins being pardoned.
How is the Night of Power Observed and Celebrated?

Laylat-al-Qadr calls for much reflection and prayer. Whilst fulfilling good deeds and asking for forgiveness, Allah (SWT) is thought to see and answer your prayers during this night.

Ramadan influences us to reflect, and it is this night where the significance is increased. Reciting the Holy Qur'an is the best way to appreciate everything that Allah (SWT) does – devoting the whole day to your faith.

You should also be encouraged to study the Holy Qur'an on the Night of Power. Understanding its meaning brings a whole new level to simply reciting its teachings. This deeper understanding can provide you with the blessings of 1,000 months.

In addition to praying for our loved ones, we pray for those in less fortunate positions and do all that we can to help, in the name of our religious duties.
