******************** THE ORIGIN & HISTORY ********************

Punk rock (or just punk) is a classification of rock music created within two years from 1974 in Australia, United Kingdom, and the United States. Its stylistic origins come from rockabilly, ska, surf rock, rock and roll, glam rock, pub rock, protopunk, and garage rock. The usual instruments used in Punk rock include electric guitar, bass and drums.

The term “punk” started out as a description for some garage bands as well as their respective devotees. Prominent Punk rock bands during 1976 included Television, Ramones, The Damned, Sex Pistols, and The Clash. In the late 1970s, punk rock have swept through the United Kingdom and become famous around the world.

A punk subculture eventually emerged, and this was expressed through youthful rebellion and clothing. Towards the latter part of the 20th century, The Offspring, Green Day, and Blink-182 cemented the popularity of this music genre.
