QvikQvik makes it easier, faster and more fun to find a contact and start communicating.

QvikQvik needs your permission to read your contacts and make phone calls. If you do not want to grant it, you can still explore the app in demo mode with 'mock' contacts.

Our new stroking technique lets you pick from the contact list in one fluid movement. The letters of the alphabet form the entry points to the list. Touch down and stroke the screen while watching the response. If you lift your finger with some contacts showing, the nearest one is selected.

Play around a bit, you can always go back if you make an unintended selection.

The available actions after contact selection are voice call, video call, SMS, email and instant messaging.

Where multiple phone numbers are associated with a contact, the default is based on the following priority: primary > cellular > other.

The selected contact may also be opened for editing, or to make calls to other than the default number.

You can access the next or previous contact by swiping the name on the action screen left or right.

QvikQvik initially shows the letters in a chain of circles around a central disk. Stroke along the chain and watch the contact list open up. The point where you touch down determines which part of the list you get initially. But you can stroke around the list in either direction as far as you please. When you lift your finger, the action disk of the nearest contact appears.

You can then use one of the six action buttons to initiate a connection.

There is no harm in picking the wrong contact. Just tap the back button, and start again. But if you rather want to cancel while stroking, move towards the center. You can lift without selection as soon as the letters replace the contacts again.

You can also touch down near the middle and stroke towards a letter. This expands the circles around your area of interest. When you get close enough to any letter, the contact list opens up on names starting with that letter. Stroke along the chain again to find the contact you want, then lift to select it.

Tapping is disabled during this phase, as it does not provide enough information to reliably select a single contact.

While navigating the contacts, the first few letters of the nearest contact appear as a preview in the central disk. This facilitates easy observation and rapid movement to the neighborhood of the desired contact.

A gear icon outside the chain leads to Settings. You can choose one of three color schemes, the length of the preview string, the chain position on the screen and one of the available IM apps. You can also choose whether you want the contacts sorted on the first vs the last word in the name. Some settings are premium options requiring an in-app purchase.

To better understand your needs, Firebase is used to measure and study user engagement with QvikQvik. No data from your contacts is collected.

Known limitation 1: If you have more than 2,000 contacts, you may need to make many revolutions around the chain to reach the desired one.

Known limitation 2: The instant messaging link only works well with WhatsApp, since the user ID can be derived from the telephone number. Although you can set Telegram & Facebook Messenger as your IM app, they are always opened at the base level, so going through QvikQvik makes little sense.

Known limitation 3: QvikQvik is not very useful if a large proportion of your contacts start with a character other than a Roman letter. Still, such contacts should all appear in category '#' or '&'.

Privacy policy: QvikQvik uses your contacts only for your picking and to complete the actions you select on them. The app does not otherwise transmit any contact information outside your device.
