About Radio FM 90s

Sri Pasupathinath Alayam
As Malaysians in a plural society we have come to celebrate and respect each other's faiths and cultures. This understanding and acceptance of one another had added another colourful dimension to the cultural fabric of this country. As such, the Sri Pasupathinath Alayam or temple plays a key role in serving the spiritual needs of the Hindu community here.

Worship at the temple is directed to the six manifestations of the Supreme, each deity representing one of the six sects of Hinduism (Shan Matham) as classsified by His Holiness Adhi Sankarachariyar (788 CE to 821 CE). The six forms of worship are :

a. Sauram - Surya ( the Sun God ) , the source of all life

b. Ganapatyam - Ganesha ( the elephant-headed god), the embodiment of wisdom

c. Kaumaram - the ever- youthful Kumara, as the embodiment of power

d. Shaktam - Shakti, the embodiment of mercy

e. Shaivam – Shiva, as the embodiment of auspiciousness

f. Vaishnavam - Vishnu, the Immanent Being.

These six forms of worship aim to satisfy every Hindu devotee in the world. The individual Hindu realises God according to his own temperaments, for the path of Hinduism is liberal and free of rigid principles. To him, God becomes manifest in various aspects and forms and is known by many names. The forms here are but manifestations of the Supreme, to avail to each, his or her own "Ishta Devatha" (chosen deity). In the centre of the temple is the Garba Graham, the sanctum sanctorum, which houses Lord Pasupathinath in the form of a Shiva Lingam - reminding all devotees that though His forms may be many, the Ultimate Reality is only one.
