About Radio FM 90s

The Tennyson Dunes Discovery Trail is a 1.5 kilometre walking experience giving visitors access to an ancient dune system, the last of its kind along the Adelaide coast. The trail is located in the suburb of Tennyson, just twelve kilometres from the city centre of Adelaide in South Australia. Along with encounters with the dunes’ iconic wildlife, the trail provides access to a botanical wonderland with more than fifty species of native plants on show. This special place and the rare and significant plants, bird life, reptiles and invertebrates it supports are brought to life on the app by Kaurna Elder Frank Wangutya Wanganeen, renowned environmental leader Professor Chris Daniels and a host of other local experts.

Exploring the trail:

The audio app features 16 wildlife and 10 plant audio tours.

The Tennyson Dunes were dedicated as a Coastal Conservation Reserve in 2015.

The dunes provide the best remaining habitat in the Adelaide area for coastal reptiles such as the painted dragon and rare coastal plants like the cushion fanflower.

The discovery trail allows visitors to experience 22 hectares of dunal heath and to take the time to enjoy the natural beauty of the dunes at their own pace.
