الشيخ علي عبد الله جابر مرتل للقرآن و من أجمل الأصوات في هذا المجال، و هو من مواليد ذي الحجة من سنة ۱۳۷۳ه في جدة بالمملكة العربية السعودية.

انتقل والديه إلى المدينة المنورة و سنه آنذاك خمس سنوات، ثم توفي والده و هو يبلغ من العمر إحدى عشر سنة فتكفل به عمه.

أتم الشيخ علي جابر تعلم القرآن الكريم حين بلغ من العمر خمسة عشر سنة. و قد تلقى تعليمه الابتدائي في مدرسة "دار الحديث" بالمدينة المنورة، ثم الثانوي بمعهد الجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة قبل الالتحاق بكلية الشريعة التابعة للجامعة الإسلامية.

تولى الشيخ علي جابر منصب أستاذ في الدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة الملك عبد العزيز بجدة و أستاذ مساعد في جامعة المدينة المنورة.

سنة 1986م، حصل الشيخ علي جابر على الدكتوراه في الفقه من المعهد العالي للقضاء بجدة.

ثم تولى الإمامة في المسجد الحرام بمكة حيث شنف مسامع الملايين من المسلمين بتلاوته الشذية التي تخشع معها القلوب، و قد لبث الشيخ علي جابر إماما بالحرم المكي إلى غاية سنة 1989م.

تعود الشيخ علي جابر أن يتلو القرآن الكريم على الأقل مرتين في اليوم إلى أن توفي بعد مرض شديد ألم به و عمره يناهز آنذاك ۵۳ سنة، و كان ذلك يوم الأربعاء 14 شتنبر 2005م الموافق ل ۱۲ ذي القعدة ۱٤۲٦ه في جدة.
